Fiona Wharton Sports Massage Therapist Christchurch

Fiona has over 30 years experience in Nursing and Healthcare and is a qualified Registered Nurse, although no longer practicing. Fiona has had an interest in Complementary Therapies for some years after doing some short courses in massage and seeing the benefits on patients in Intensive Care.  Having also been on the receiving end of quite a few different complementary therapies, following a car accident, some I found a lot more effective than others.

Fiona qualified in 2013 as a Holistic Massage Therapist and has also have completed a Hot Stone Massage as well as an Indian Head Massage course.  In 2015 she qualified in Sports MassageTherapy and in conjunction with this has attended a first aid course, a taping and strapping course as well as a kinesiology taping course.  Fiona is a member of the Sports Massage Association (SMA).

Fiona has an interest in Fibromyalgia and Chronic Fatigue Syndrome (CFS) as she was diagnosed with these approximately 4 years ago and although being able to manage these conditions there are many people out there who are struggling.

Most Sunday’s Fiona volunteers with the Dorset Destroyers Wheelchair Rugby Club as a sports massage therapist offering treatments and advice to players.

The Dorset Destroyers train at Rossmore Leisure Centre in Poole and have some classified players as well as players that will enter into the new league once it commences.  Fiona is also one of the sports massage therapists for Lytchett Minster RFC so can be found running up and down a rugby pitch on most Saturdays during the winter.

Get to know Fiona:

Her plans for next year are to do a 5km run and although that doesn’t sound like a great deal, for someone with Fibro and CFS she feels like she might as well be climbing Everest!!
