QUALIFICATIONS AND EXPERIENCE:
Declan is a passionate Chartered Physiotherapist and an avid sports enthusiast who graduated with a MSc in Physiotherapy (Pre-registration) from University of Southampton in 2017. Prior to his MSc degree, he had completed a BSc (Hons) in Exercise and Sports Sciences at University of Exeter in 2013. Whilst completing an ITEC level 3 Sports Massage along the way. After graduating as a Physiotherapist, Declan gained a vast amount of experience whilst completing his junior rotations in the NHS. He quickly knew that he had a passion for Musculoskeletal issues and became a Senior Musculoskeletal Physiotherapist in the NHS in Dorset. Declan splits his time between working in this role, developing as a Extended Scope Practitioner in the NHS and working with Total Therapy.
Declan has a diverse range of skills including rehabilitation of sports specific injuries, post-operative trauma and orthopaedic conditions. He aims to restore and improve function with an evidence based patient centred approach.
Throughout his career, he has focused on facilitating and enabling people to return to function or to achieve their goals. Whether this be living day to day without any aches or pains, or completing a marathon.
WHY DID DECLAN BECOME A PHYSIOTHERAPIST?
Declan has always had a passion for sport and exercise. Becoming a Physiotherapist has helped him to promote his enthusiasm and return back to their usual self.
Unfortunately, Declan has experienced several set backs and injuries throughout his sporting life. Those experiences meant that he has been a patient himself and understands the rehabilitation frustrations.
WHERE WOULD WE FIND DECLAN IN HIS SPARE TIME?
Declan loves all sports – especially football. Therefore, in his spare time those moment tend to be around sports and fitness. He enjoys keeping fit by going to the gym and socialising with friends. Declan tries to make the most out of living in Dorset by spending time outdoors when he can, especially with his girlfriend and his German Shepherd Buddy.
